CORNWALL – The City says it will not be easing winter parking restrictions next week.

Given the brutal winter conditions with heavy snow and ice, the municipal works department says on-street parking and parking in municipal lots will not be allowed between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. through April 1, regardless of the weather.

In previous years, the on-street parking would have been allowed after March 15 if there was no significant snow in the forecast. The rule was at the discretion of the infrastructure and municipal works manager.

The municipal works department says the restrictions may be looked at again if there’s a “significant melt.”

The fine for parking overnight is $25.
