SDSG – Local MP Guy Lauzon and his wife have thrown their support behind Lauzon’s former parliamentary assistant, Eric Duncan, as the Conservative candidate for SDSG.

Lauzon and his wife, Frances, made the announcement Tuesday night.

“Having served our community for 15 years and being through six election campaigns, I know what it takes to be a Member of Parliament. Eric Duncan has what it takes to be successful and he has the full support of Frances and myself in his bid to become our next Member of Parliament,” Lauzon said in a news release.

Duncan says it means a lot to have the couple’s endorsement.

“They have been wonderful role models and mentors to look up to, and their public support brings even more momentum as we continue to work hard for every vote. I am humbled and overwhelmed by the positive support we’ve received in the riding,” he said.

No nomination date has been set yet. The nomination period would be about 40 days.

Duncan has been the only person to put their name forward so far for the Conservative nomination in the riding.

The federal election is Oct. 19.
