MOUNTAIN – Twice as many families in Dundas County and North Grenville are appreciating a little extra warmth over the holiday season.

The second annual Heat for the Holidays event saw a month’s supply of eco-energy logs delivered to 22 food bank clients just before Christmas – roughly half of them seniors.

The event by the House of Lazarus is run with support from the local food bank and a Winchester building supply company.

“There is no doubt Heat for the Holidays is needed,” House of Lazarus spokesman Sandy Casselman said. “Having participated in the delivery both years, I can say there are many out there who are in dire need of assistance to not only get through the winter, but to also do necessary repairs to their homes. Many have already received window insulation kits through the Project Warmth initiative, but more needs to be done.”
