Home invasion report a hoax; two arrested

CORNWALL – Two Cornwallites in their 50s have been charged in connection to what was thought to be a home invasion last week.

It turns out that police report was a hoax, apparently to cover up another confrontation involving a shotgun outside a Notre Dame Street home on Wednesday (Dec. 19).

Police say two people showed up on site and pulled out a shotgun, pointing it at a man on the property.

The two were later arrested. Officers recovered a BB gun, taser, cocaine and oxycodone during the arrest.

Christopher St. Andre, 50, is facing 13 charges, which include public mischief, pointing a firearm and six counts of breach of a probation order.

Shelley St. Andre, 51, is facing nine charges, including public mischief, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of pointing a firearm.

Cornwall police had appealed for tips on Friday, based on what they thought was a home invasion at the time. They say this was an isolated case and there’s no danger to the public.

The couple was held in custody for a bail hearing.
