CORNWALL – The group behind getting community dollars for the future Cornwall Arts Center will set its fundraising target at $1 million.
Details of the plan will be unveiled when Katie Burke from Arts Space makes a presentation to city council tonight (Monday), shortly after 7 p.m.
Playing off the city’s slogan, Burke will present “a world of possibilities” for the facility, which include a black box theater, dance, drama, improv, musical performances and visual arts to name a few.
The group has already had an organizing meeting early last month.
The city bought the former Bank of Montreal building on Pitt Street, south of Second Street, earlier this year for $450,000 and renovations to turn it into a center are estimated to be $4-6 million.
City council won’t make any decision tonight but will refer the presentation to staff to draw up a report for a future meeting.
