Windy night in store for SD&G

CORNWALL – The wind is expected to scream through SD&G tonight at speeds up to 80 kilometers an hour as a cold front moves into the region.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement at 4:15 p.m. for the region as the strong southwest wind will “gust frequently” at 60-70 kilometers an hour.

Higher gusts of 75-80 kilometers an hour are possible along the St. Lawrence River.

“Loose objects may the tossed by the winds and can cause injury or damage,” the weather agency said.

Some minor tree damage is also possible because there are still leaves on the trees.
