BEAUHARNOIS, Que. – Brenntag, once a chemical manufacturer and packager in Cornwall, has opened up its new plant in Quebec.
The company held its grand opening today (Wednesday) of its 215,000 square foot (20,000 square meter) plant in Beauharnois, Que. – about 95 kilometers from Cornwall on the south shore near Chateauguay.
The plant will process 20,000 metric tons of compressed natural gas.
Brenntag Canada Inc. had been in Cornwall about 20 years packing chlorine but the company decided to move those operations closer to its supplier base in Quebec.
Employees in Cornwall at the plant at 730 Seventh Street West, east of the Benson Center, were given the opportunity to move along with the operation.
