Mercier Avenue water on later today: City

CORNWALL – A spokesman for the City of Cornwall says the water should be on sometime this morning (Wednesday) to people living on Mercier Avenue in the north end of the city.

The water was shut off around 8 a.m. Tuesday for work on a “significant” water main break near the intersection with Pitt Street.

“Crews (encountered)…complications yesterday that had them working through the night. The command center was still on hand as of 7:30 a.m. this morning with bottled water,” Emma Meldrum told Cornwall Newswatch.

This is the second break for the Pitt Street pipe after a piece of it broke outside city hall last month.
