CORNWALL – Cornwall’s mayor, elected in 2014 on a wave of change, wants to continue his work in the city.
Leslie O’Shaughnessy filed his nomination papers ahead of this afternoon’s deadline (Friday, 2 p.m.).
The former city councillor, who also made a career in real estate, took over 50 per cent of the vote in 2014. At that time, O’Shaughnessy ran his campaign against his biggest competitor, Bob Kilger, on a new “methodology” of accountability and transparency.
In a news release this afternoon, O’Shaughnessy said his “campaign is now in the planning stages and will officially kick off in September. I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer and look forward to listening and having discussions with our residents about the future of our city and how we should move forward.”
It’s now a four-way race for mayor.
He will be challenged by Couns. Bernadette Clement and David Murphy and 2010 mayoral candidate Nicole Spahich.
