Cornwall council hopefuls now at 20

CORNWALL – More Cornwall City Council hopefuls have filed their nomination papers for the Oct. 22 municipal election.

Incumbents Mark MacDonald and Maurice Dupelle have filed.

“Over the past eight years I have been proud to serve you, the residents of Cornwall, and have felt honoured that you have placed that trust in me,” Dupelle said in a news release.

Former Social Development Council executive director Alex de Wit will also be on the ballot.

With less than two days to go, there are now 20 candidates for 10 council seats.

Nominations are open until 2 p.m. Friday.
