DUNVEGAN – A driver lost his vehicle for a week after he was caught travelling over double the posted speed limit on a county road in North Glengarry.

An SD&G O.P.P. officer clocked the vehicle on Friday morning (July 13) at 162 kilometers an hour on County Road 30.

The speed limit on the road, which stretches from County Road 43 to Highway 417, is 80 kilometers an hour.

The 49-year-old man was charged with stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act. He had his licence suspended for a week and his car impounded for the same amount of time.

He was among five drivers stopped between Friday and Monday for excessive speeding in SD&G.
