CORNWALL – A Cornwall man heavily involved in arts and culture and the waterfront is taking another run for city council.

Todd Bennett announced today (Thursday) he has filed his nomination papers.

Bennett has been involved in various committees of council the past eight years – he’s chairman of the Culture Plan Committee and is on the Waterfront Committee.

On the Culture Plan Committee, he helped with the feasibility study which has moved the city toward its own arts center.

“I understand what a strong arts and culture sector can mean to the economic well being of our community. This will create strong economic spin offs for local businesses and help revitalize the downtown core,” Bennett said.

He was also behind turning part of Guindon Park into a camping area, during his work with the waterfront committee.

As a produce manager for Farm Boy, Bennett believes in incentives for senior staff who trim their expenses.

“This will encourage belt tightening and looking for appropriate savings at every turn and will concretely help to lower taxes,” he said.

With Bennett, there are now 10 people who’ve put their names forward for a spot on Cornwall City Council.

The municipal election is on Oct. 22.
