CORNWALL – More people in Cornwall were working in June, compared to the month before and the same period last year.
The employment rate in June was 50.8 per cent, compared with 50.2 per cent in May.
That was despite approximately 500 people leaving the labour force.
The June rate was also 7.3 per cent better than in June 2017.
The unemployment rate for Cornwall was suppressed by Statistics Canada for the fourth month in a row because it was below the confidentiality threshold.
The Eastern Ontario unemployment rate was 4.6 per cent, one-tenth of a per cent higher than May.
Across Canada, the economy added 31,800 jobs, but the June jobless rate still ticked up to 6 per cent from 5.8 per cent the month before.
