CORNWALL – Three outdoor pools will be opening the Canada Day weekend as the City gets caught up after a three week municipal strike.

The City announced today that the pools at Mattice on Edward Street, Reg Campbell on Fraser Avenue and St. Joseph on Easton Avenue will open Saturday (June 30).

Meantime, the pool at St. Francis won’t open until next Friday or Saturday (July 6-7) and swimming won’t start at Terry Fox until July 9.

However, some swim lessons at those pools may start before then – people in those programs will be contacted by city staff.

It costs city taxpayers $2.1 million after revenue from swimming lessons, registration fees and programming to run the outdoor pools and Aquatic Center.

The outdoor pools alone will cost nearly $710,000 this year to run.
