Crash at McConnell-Eleventh sends one to hospital

CORNWALL – One person was taken to hospital by ambulance after a collision between a taxi and a sedan at a Cornwall intersection Wednesday night (May 16).

Cornwall firefighters, city police and Cornwall-SDG Paramedic Services were on the scene at McConnell Avenue and Eleventh Street East around 6:20 p.m.

A Toyota Camry taxi and a Nissan Maxima SV sedan collided. Police say one vehicle was heading south on McConnell; the other east on Eleventh when they met.

The Nissan had front and rear end damage to the passenger side while the taxi had significant front end damage.

A person in the Nissan was taken to hospital by paramedics with undetermined injuries. Another man and a young child, who was crying uncontrollably, were being checked over at the scene by another paramedic.

The taxi had no passengers at the time, police said.

An investigation is ongoing to determine who was at fault in the crash.

The intersection was partially shut down for about 25 minutes for the police investigation and cleanup.
