AKWESASNE – The corporation overseeing the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino has named a new general manager.
Mohawk Gaming Enterprises LLC has selected Todd Papineau to lead the gaming facility on State Route 37, about 13 kilometers southeast of Cornwall.
Tribal Chief Michael Connors, also chairman of Mohawk Gaming Enterprises, says the board is “honoured to once again have an Akwesasne Mohawk serving our community and employees.”
Papineau was previously the executive director of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Commission and has 16 years of regulatory experience in that position, according to the tribe.
Tribal Chief Beverly Cook says Papineau’s “knowledge as a community member will help align the gaming operation with our community’s overall strategic direction for the ongoing benefit of tribal members.”
Papineau takes over for Shannon Keel, who left the position in October after two-and-a-half years. According to her LinkedIn profile, Keel is now the general manager for the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nev.
The tribal council also thanked Emily Lauzon for being acting general manager during the transition.
