SD&G – A lot of rain is forecast to hit SD&G as early as Family Day Monday, raising the concern of a local conservation authority.
The South Nation Conservation Authority, which governs mostly the northwestern section of SD&G, released a water safety statement Friday afternoon.
It says 20-40 millimeters (0.78-1.6 inches) of rain is expected, starting Monday (Feb. 19) and continuing through Wednesday.
There’s concern the rainfall, coupled with the snow melt, will produce high water levels and possible nuisance flooding.
Area residents are advised to be careful around river banks and bodies of water.
The safety statement is in effect until Friday, Feb. 23, 2018.
