AKWESASNE – A second person has gone missing in Akwesasne.
The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) says Donald “Do” Johnson, 31, was last seen Friday (Feb.9) in St. Regis.
Johnson is 5-foot-2, 165 pounds with short black hair and a dark complexion. Police say he has a paralyzed left arm. He was last seen wearing a dark green jacket and blue jeans.
“Donald was not the type to go anywhere for any length of time and would always return home each day,” police said.
People don’t believe the disappearance is suspicious but there is concern for his safety.
Meanwhile, AMPS still has an open file on Kenneth Leaf, 50, who was reported missing on Jan. 22 after he was last seen Jan. 13.
AMPS Detective Sgt. Kariwate Mitchell says they are looking for “first-hand knowledge” from anybody who had contact with Leaf.
The Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department has conducted a search of the Snye Channel and the St. Lawrence River as a precaution with negative results.
Police have not said whether the two disappearances are connected in any way, other than to say Johnson’s disappearance is not considered suspicious.
