CORNWALL – A city man has been convicted of possessing child pornography.

Mathieu Pahle, 35, was found guilty of possession of child pornography following a judge-only trial, which started Monday (Dec. 11).

He had plead not guilty to the charge ahead of the trial.

Pahle was arrested in September 2014 as part of a province-wide multi-police force investigation that saw 60 arrests, 99 search warrants and 249 charges laid.

During a 2014 news conference, O.P.P. Chief Superintendent Don Bell showed a map with over 7,000 internet protocol (IP) addresses, traced over a period of 180 days – all places suspected of being download candidates for suspected child porn.

The judge has ordered a pre-sentence report and a mental health assessment ahead of Pahle’s sentencing on April 9, 2018.

Another man caught in the same police operation – 50-year-old Steven Seyeau – was given a six month jail sentence after pleading guilty in May 2015.
