SD&G 2018 budget passes with 1.8% increase

SD&G – County council topped up its 2018 budget Monday with nearly $1 million in additional roadwork for next year.

The budget, passed on Monday afternoon, has an overall increase of 1.8% or an extra $22 a year on a household assessed at nearly $212,000.

The increase is the same as last year (2017 budget).

At the beginning of the meeting, council was met with a budget with a 0.6 per cent decrease (2.6 per cent decrease when you back out the assessment increase).

The four projects added to the road work for 2018 are:

  • County Road 3 from County Road 31 to the west limits of Winchester ($308,000).
  • County Road 36 from Simcoe Street to Woodland Villa ($70,000).
  • County Road 27 from County Road 17 to County Road 18 ($195,000).
  • County Road 12 through Berwick ($404,000).

The roads budget already as work planned for sections of County Roads 3, 7, 8,18, 27, 31, 38, 43 and County Road 44.

There’s also $120,000 being put in a roads reserve account for potential planning and engineering for County Road 22.
