Update 1:44 p.m.: Police say they have identified the suspect based on tips from the public.

CORNWALL – Cornwall police are asking for your help in identifying a man suspected of passing counterfeit money in the city.

Police released an image of the man at the counter of a convenience store, looking through his cell phone while purchasing a couple of energy drinks.

There has been fake $50 and $100 Canadian banknotes circulating the Cornwall area, the police service said Monday.

Anyone who can identify the suspect is asked to call Const. Scott Virtue at 613-933-5000 extension 2782 or the anonymous tip line at 2404.
