ST. ANDREWS WEST – A new $1.7 million fire hall has been opened in the village.
South Stormont councillors, Fire Chief Gilles Crepeau, firefighters and township staff cut the ribbon outside the newly constructed Station 4.
The building at 5205 Highway 138 has three bays with a drive-through system so fire trucks don’t have to back in, as well as a storm water management pond.
The building can also hold up to 50 people for events and public meetings.
Mayor Jim Bancroft said the new fire hall gives the township a “solid and forward approach” for future replacements and renos for fire stations.
Fire Chief Crepeau said he was “thrilled” to be part of the building of South Stormont’s “flagship station,” which has been several years in the making.
The project was on time and on budget, according to the township.
An open house is planned for Fire Prevention Week in October.
