CORNWALL – The Cornwall Community Hospital is crediting service improvements for a 15 per cent increase in births over the last two years.

During the last fiscal year, there were 597 babies born at the McConnell Avenue hospital – 60 babies alone in March and again in July this year.

That’s a 15 per cent increase in the last two years, according to a CCH spokesperson.

The hospital added midwifery services in 2012 and skin to skin contact, post cesarean section, in 2015.

As for staffing support, CCH has five pediatricians, five anesthetists and 10 midwives with hospital privileges (corrected from an earlier version indicating six, error at the source).
