CORNWALL – A section of McConnell Avenue will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday) and is scheduled to remain that way for the rest of the work week.

Construction crews are working around the Marleau Avenue-Ninth Street East intersection, requiring the road to be closed.

A section of McConnell from Ridgewood Drive to Ninth Street East will be closed until Friday.

There will still be access for people to get to the Cornwall Community Hospital emergency department. Marleau Avenue is also unaffected.

Traffic will be detoured via Marlborough Street.

The first phase of the Ninth-Marleau widening project, estimated at $2.5 million, is scheduled to be complete by the middle of next month.

The intersection of McConnell and Marleau-Ninth normally sees about 17,000 vehicles a day.
