CORNWALL – Barring any unforeseen problems, the city anticipates a section of Brookdale Avenue should reopen later tonight (Wednesday) following a water main repair.

City spokesman Kevin Lajoie said backfilling of the dig site is underway as of 4 p.m. and the area will have a new layer of asphalt put down.

Brookdale has been closed between Ninth and Thirteenth Streets since this morning.

The city set up access for passenger vehicles to get to Brookdale businesses via Twelfth Street West from Hebert Street. For East Side Mario’s, the city has put up a sign at Ninth Street, allowing vehicles to turn into the restaurant parking lot.

The City of Cornwall is thanking motorists for their patience while the work is completed.
