SOUTH GLENGARRY – Members of the Cornwall Regional Task Force have seized 426 kilograms of fine cut tobacco after a traffic stop last week.

The CRTF say they were on surveillance on Tuesday (July 18) when they noted suspicious activity along the St. Lawrence River shoreline.

They later stopped a van leaving the area and found 32 bags of fine cut tobacco in the back of the van, weighing 426 kilograms (939 pounds).

A 27-year-old man from Hogansburg, N.Y. was arrested and charged with possession of unstamped tobacco.

Police say he was also wanted for another tobacco-related offence two years ago.
