CORNWALL – The Cornwall Community Hospital is dealing with an outbreak of a flu-like bug in the facility.

In a statement posted to its Facebook page on Friday (June 30), CCH said “a number of patients” are affected and visiting hours would be restricted in those areas, with an exception for compassionate reasons.

The hospital also underscored the fact you shouldn’t visit other patients in the hospital if you are exhibiting signs of gastroenteritis – diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, cramping, fever, nausea and headache.

But people should still come to the hospital if they need treatment, a hospital spokesman clarified in a reply to a question on the Facebook posting.

An outbreak is declared with three or more cases happen in a four day period, according to provincial health regulations.
