Where are the fireworks? Canada Day festivities across SD&G

Update 12:52 p.m. Spoken with a city rep about Canada Day festivities in Cornwall. Park inflatables not set up due to the weather. Entertainment is expected to start up again around 5pm with bigger acts later in the evening. The fireworks are planned to go at 10 p.m. tonight. Canada Day committee spokesman David Runions has posted that opening ceremonies will happen at 6 p.m. (instead of originally scheduled at noon).

Update 10 a.m. Saturday: Morrisburg and Iroquois fireworks have been postponed until Sunday (July 2).

SD&G – The City of Cornwall and neighbouring townships are gearing up for the big party this weekend.

Canada Day festivities start at noon in Lamoureux Park and will finish at 8:30 p.m. with a performance from Paul Deslauriers before the fireworks at 10 p.m.

In South Stormont, Canada Day activities have been pushed back a day until Sunday (July 2). They will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Ault Park with an official ceremony at 1 p.m. In Arnold Bethune Park. festivities go from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. with the fireworks display at dusk on Sunday.

North Stormont will have events at North Stormont Place and at the park, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. Fireworks go at 9 p.m. with a video dance party for adults late into the night. Fireworks will also go at dusk in Moose Creek at the park (2 Munroe Street).

South Dundas will have events from noon until 10 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) in Earl Baker Park in Morrisburg and at Iroquois Point from noon until 9:45 p.m. with fireworks.

In North Dundas, a family-friend event is taking place from 3 p.m. until dark at the South Mountain Fair Ground on Lough Road. The event is hosted by the local Lions clubs.

Canada Day celebrations in Lancaster at Charlottenburgh Park are being put on by the Optimist Club. The South Glengarry events go from noon until 9 p.m.

North Glengarry is having events in Maxville today (Friday) with fireworks at dusk. There are also events in Alexandria on Saturday.
