WINCHESTER – A Winchester grocery store is among the list of the latest retailers authorized to sell beer and cider.
The Winchester Foodland at 12015 Main Street is part of the 76 new independent and large grocery stores authorized to sell the select liquor types, starting June 30, the province announced Tuesday.
It’s not the first grocery store in SD&G to offer the service.
FreshCo in Cornwall started putting wine, beer and cider on its store shelves last fall. Its parent company, Sobeys, got 15 licences in the first round of competitive bidding.
The province’s plan is to eventually have beer and cider available in 450 Ontario grocery stores, including 300 that can also sell wine.
