SUMMERSTOWN – A section of the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 are shut down this evening (Friday) after a vehicle fire.
Road cones and flares are set up at the Summerstown exit and traffic is being detoured off the highway, a traffic spotter told CNW.
There was a tractor-trailer fire in the eastbound lanes.
Const. Tylor Copeland told CNW the highway was closed as a precautionary measure, because emergency responders, including the South Glengarry Fire Service, didn’t know what kind of cargo they were dealing with.
At 6:32 p.m., Copeland indicated the highway should be reopening “shortly.”
