CORNWALL – The city’s brief but intense thunderstorm has left a few people in the dark Monday night.
Cornwall firefighters were called to an area around Arba Court and McConnell Avenue around 7:45 p.m. for reports of a transformer malfunctioning.
After assessing the situation, Cornwall Electric was notified about the outage, which appeared to be a number of breakers tripped on a hydro pole, possibly by the storm.
The outage happened at the height of a thunderstorm where the area was experiencing heavy downpours and intense lightning.
Around 575 customers are affected. It’s not known when the power will be restored.
