Not guilty of welfare fraud

CORNWALL – A city woman has been found not guilty of welfare fraud.

The finding came after a scheduled one day trial before a judge on Monday (April 10) in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall, according to court records.

Details of the proceedings were not immediately available.

Elizabeth Curran, 59, had stood accused of failing to declare changes in her living arrangements which had resulted in an Ontario Works overpayment of $8,430 from 2014-2015.

Curran had been arrested Dec. 9, 2015 after turning herself in at police headquarters.
