SD&G – As rain continues to fall across the region, the Raisin Region Conservation Authority has stepped up its advisory, issuing a flood warning for the eastern section of SD&G.
As of 11 a.m., the conservation authority said the next 24 hours will be the time when many rivers peak in the region.
In some cases, rivers have already spilled over their banks. Some areas that are susceptible to flooding include portions of McGillvary’s Road, River Road, Cashion Road and Loyalist Road.
Meantime, water levels on North Glengarry lakes are being monitored and managed.
Flood-prone areas downstream of the Mill Pond will see water backing up over the next two days, the conservation authority said.
For the northern and western section of SD&G, the South Nation Conservation Authority issued a flood watch on Thursday as the region was expecting 30-50 millimeters (1.18-1.96 inches) of rain.
