CORNWALL – Charges have been dropped against a second accused in a 2016 drug case with ties to motorcycle gangs.

Seven charges against Jennifer Berube, 47, were withdrawn at the request of the Crown attorney’s office during a court appearance on March 23, 2017, according to court records.

Meanwhile her husband, 53-year-old Jeffrey Berube, will be sentenced on Aug. 28, 2017 in relation to the case after entering a plea the same day.

The arrests of five people happened in June 2016 during a series of drug busts on Anderson Drive, Prince Albert Street and Adolphus Street.

During those joint operations between the CCPS Street Crime Unit and SD&G O.P.P., officers seized cocaine, hash, hydromorphone and Canadian cash, along with a set of brass knuckles. There was also some biker gang clothing that was confiscated.

Police say two of the accused – Rodney Helmer and Jeffrey Berube – are known members of the “13 Crew” Motorcycle Club – a support club of the Hells Angels.

Rachel Helmer is scheduled to appear in Alexandria for a trial on Oct. 26, 2017 while her husband, Rodney Helmer, will appear for a preliminary hearing in Cornwall on May 19, 2017.

Drug charges against Frances Picken were dropped in September.
