WINCHESTER – The Winchester Curling Club will hurry hard to the end of the season as it undergoes summer renovations.
Local MPP Jim McDonell stopped by the club over the weekend to congratulate the volunteer-run group on receiving a $7,900 Ontario150 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The work, once the season is done, will include renovations to the kitchen, a new air conditioning unit for the club house and an insulated garage door for the arena at 587 Main Street.
“Undertaking any capital improvements in a small organization with limited resources is no easy task,” said Jason McKercher, president of the club. “The Ontario150 grant will help to provide much needed improvements, increasing the usability of the Curling Club for years to come.”
It’s the 90th anniversary for the Winchester Curling Club.
