CORNWALL – Cornwall Colts’ defenceman Sebastian Dirven intends to skate with Cornell University in 2018.
The 6-foot-3, 190 pound player from Bainsville is happy about joining Big Red after making a commitment to the university.
“Cornell has a good mix of top ranked academics and a really good hockey program,” said Dirven. “Academically, I’ll be focusing on the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences. It’s one of the best in North America.”
The Ithaca, N.Y. university competes in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC: NCAA Division 1 hockey).
Among his credits, the 18-year-old is a third Team CCHL All Star and suited up for Team Canada East in December during the World Junior A Challenge.
Meanwhile, the Colts are opening the second round of their CCHL playoff series on Thursday night against the visiting Ottawa Junior Senators.
