SD&G – Provincial police impounded no fewer than a half dozen vehicles last weekend from drivers with a heavy foot.
SD&G O.P.P. released results of their weekend traffic enforcement on Tuesday where, in one case, a driver was caught on Highway 401 in South Stormont going 182 kilometers an hour on Saturday night (Feb. 18).
The 21-year-old driver from London, Ont. had his licence suspended for a week and his vehicle impounded for the same amount of time under Ontario’s street racing law.
Most of the other drivers caught were in their late teens to early 20s, as well as a 30-year-old and a 53-year-old – all for going at least 50 kilometers an hour over the speed limit.
All but one of the stops was on Highway 401 in SD&G – the 30-year-old Montreal driver was caught on Highway 417 after an officer recorded a vehicle on radar at 162 kilometers an hour.
