WINCHESTER – For people too sick to make it to the x-ray room at Winchester District Memorial Hospital, the newest technology can come to them.
The hospital’s auxiliary has donated $191,675 to the hospital for a new portable x-ray machine.
“It (the mobile unit) provides instant images for physicians to review and a reduced amount of radiation for patients. And it’s ergonomically friendly for our technologists,” Team Leader Shirley Rose said.
The money from the auxiliary was raised through a number of activities including a community dance and the bridge club.
The old x-ray machine has been donated to Haiti to help in health care treatment there.
