ALEXANDRIA – The Township of North Glengarry will hold a special council meeting Monday to discuss “legal and procedural options” after “inconsistencies” were found in some township tax accounts.

In a statement, CAO Daniel Gagnon says it’s too early to speculate what may have caused problems with “some” accounts. The problems appear to surround how tax payments and interest were applied and reported.

But Gagnon insists any errors found will be corrected and adjustments will be made.

The township’s auditors have also been brought it to sort through the paperwork.

The special council meeting starts at 4 p.m. on Monday (Feb. 13) at the Sandfield Center to give council an update on the probe.
