Wintry mix leads to lots of crashes

SD&G – A combination of ice pellets, freezing rain and snow was no match for a number of drivers overnight and this morning (Wednesday).

SD&G O.P.P. say they responded to 35 calls for collisions, vehicles in ditches and business and residential alarms.

In one case, a commuter bus crashed on County Road 31, north of County Road 43, around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and two people received minor injuries.

The O.P.P. is reminding motorists that adverse conditions are still out there and drivers should exercise caution when travelling today.

As well, tow truck drivers and other police officers will be out assisting with pulling vehicles out of ditches that were left overnight.
