SD&G – Facing a situation where they are “bursting at the seams” for space, the resource coordinator for Habitat for Humanity says their store front will be moving to Cornwall next year.

Breckyn Fowler told United Counties council Monday morning they have secured a deal with the owners of the old Metro location on Vincent Massey Drive to take 15,000 square feet of space in the building.

Fowler says they have outgrown their space in Bonville and are not able to show off the building supplies and other goods they receive.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore hopes to be in its new location in the spring, which will help serve a larger population.

Fowler says the ReStore in this area is unique compared to others as it does more than just cover the costs of Habitat for Humanity Seaway Valley.

The program, which has helped 12 low-income families with 28 get an affordable home, will build somewhere in Dundas County in 2017 and Stormont County in 2018.

Fowler was also at the council meeting to ask for municipal support for their program. Her request has been sent to county administration for consideration in the 2017 budget.
