Koe, Homan win at Shorty Jenkins

CORNWALL – 2015 Tim Hortons Brier champion and world champion Kevin Koe from Alberta and Ontario’s Rachel Homan were the winners at the second annual Shorty Jenkins Classic.

Koe won 9-3 in the final match against Mark Nichols, part of the defending championship team, at the Cornwall Curling Center.

Brad Gushue, whose rink won last year, was out due to an injury.

On the women’s side, Rachel Homan defeated fellow Ontarian Allison Flaxey 7-1.

As for the purses, the men’s side took $15,000 while the woman won $10,000.

There were 39 teams this year looking for a piece of the $84,000 purse during the four-day event.

This was the 20th year for the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic and the second in Cornwall after the event relocated from Brockville.
