CORNWALL – The city apologized Thursday for a delay in getting a new sidewalk installed on Marleau Avenue near Bridgewood Public School.
The sidewalk on the south side of Marleau was suppose to be ready for the first day of school on Sept. 6.
Construction is underway with completion expected by Sept. 23.
The city is also adding a pedestrian signal at Marleau Avenue and Lochiel Street.
The delay and the lack of a pedestrian signal at Lochiel drew concerns from local parents.
The city added there are no plans to have a crossing guard at Marleau Avenue and Nick Kaneb Drive but the intersection is outfitted with pedestrian crossing lights.
There is a crossing guard a block south at Holy Cross Boulevard and Nick Kaneb Drive.
