SD&G – Provincial police impounded no less than five vehicles over the weekend for excessive speeding.
Officers with the O.P.P. Highway Safety Division were conducting radar enforcement in the region on Aug. 26-28, 2016.
Two vehicles were caught on Highway 401, another two on County Road 43 and a fifth on County Road 31.
The high flier was a 27-year-old driver from New Jersey, caught going 166 kilometers an hour on Highway 401.
All the drivers were men, ranging in age from 23 to 68.
In all cases, their licences were also suspended for seven days under Ontario’s street racing law, pending a court appearance, which could result in a further suspension of their licence as well as hefty fines.
