Final class celebrates at Gladstone, East Front Public Schools

CORNWALL – Two city public schools will be closing a chapter in their history today (Thursday).

Gladstone Public School and East Front Public School are holding farewell festivals as they wind down the school year and prepare for a new combined location – Bridgewood Public School.

Gladstone, at 825 McConnell Avenue, will have its two hour festival starting at 3 p.m. while East Front’s event, at 1810 Montreal Road will start at 4 p.m.

GPS will be have carnival games, an obstacle course, face painting, a barbecue and will also have memorabilia on display.

Over at East Front they will have similar activities including free popcorn and snow cones, as well as hot dogs and hamburgers sold by M&M Meat Shop.

The last official day for students is Wednesday, June 29, 2016.

The 50,000 square foot Bridgestone Public School, at Marleau Avenue and Nick Kaneb Drive, will be open for classes in September.

It will accommodate nearly 600 students from East Front and Gladstone.
