Tyotown fire guts home

TYOTOWN – A disaster restoration company was working on site Saturday after an overnight fire gutted a home, east of Cornwall.

The fire happened Friday night and tore through the single-storey home in the 18200 block of Tyotown Road, slightly east of Purcell Road.

Paramedics and police were on scene most of the night.

Firefighters managed to save some of the family’s possessions and valuables.

Two firefighters had to be treated by paramedics on scene for what are said to be minor injuries.

Members of the Glen Walter station were still on scene around midday today (Saturday) while the home was being boarded up.

Acting Fire Chief Dave Robertson was not available to provide further information on the fire.
