Ont. Lieutenant Governor visits Cornwall, Akwesasne

CORNWALL – Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor is visiting Cornwall and Akwesasne today (Tuesday).

Elizabeth Dowdeswell will meet with Cornwall Mayor Leslie O’Shaughnessy and Akwesasne Grand Chief Abram Benedict at 9:30 a.m.

She will then have a discussion with city councillors, staff and First Nation district chiefs on sustainability in the Cornwall-area.

Dowdeswell will then head to Akwesasne for an Edge of the Woods Ceremony at the Tri-District Elders Lodge just before noon, followed by a lunch with the grand chief, elders and community leaders.

The Lieutenant Governor will also visit a local language training center, the Akwesasne Environment Department and the Native North American Travelling College in the afternoon.
