CORNWALL – Local RCMP officers have seized property, including a car, after a day long bust at a Second Street West triplex.

According to witnesses, one person was arrested around 7:30 a.m. However, that has not been confirmed by police.

Neighbours tell Cornwall Newswatch the police had been on the scene since roughly 6:30 a.m. (Tuesday).

At least a half dozen officers were still working in the parking lot behind the triplex at 314 Second Street West early this afternoon.

Investigators were rummaging through a small storage shed at the back of the property, east of Cumberland Street, and took two large, black plastic containers from the building.

Another officer was taking pictures of two spiral-bound books, held by another officer.

Their focus then turned to a couple automobiles on the property, where officers were photographing the underside of the hood of a classic car.

The second car – a gray Chevrolet Malibu – was loaded on a flatbed Metro Towing tow truck and escorted from the scene by an undercover police minivan.

After distributing a bunch of blue Nitrile gloves, a group of officers made their way into a third-storey apartment building to continue the search.

Neighbours, who asked not to be identified, described the person living there as the building’s superintendent – a man in his 40s who delivers flowers and prescription medication.

“He’s a good guy,” one neighbour told CNW.

A call to an RCMP spokesman was not immediately returned.
