SOUTH DUNDAS – A scary situation for motorists Saturday night after a vehicle was going the wrong way on Highway 401, west of Cornwall.

SD&G O.P.P. received a complaint around 11 p.m. about a vehicle heading west in the eastbound lanes, where it almost collided with oncoming traffic.

The vehicle ended up coming to a stop in the median.

When officers caught up to the culprit, the driver was found to be impaired.

A 49-year-old Ottawa man is charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving.

He will appear in a Morrisburg court next month.

The case is a chilling reminder of a deadly wrong-way crash near Lancaster where three people lost their lives in September 2015.
