CORNWALL – The executive director of the Agape Center is resigning to pursue a new chapter in her life.

Alyssa Blais, 44, announced her resignation today after five-and-a-half years at the Agape Center.

“I set out to do something at Agape and I accomplished my goals. I feel like my time has come to an end, and I’m leaving it in great hands,” Blais said.

She believes it’s time for new leadership. “We’ve built a good team here. I feel good about leaving it now.”

Blais plans to take a 6-12 month sabbatical and trek the globe, including stops in Newfoundland, Nepal and Thailand.

Blais’ last day will be May 26, 2016.

She said her proudest accomplishment is the $980,000 building campaign Within These Walls, which started in October 2014.

In addition to her work with the soup kitchen and food bank, Blais also ran for city council in 2014.

The board of directors for the Agape Center will announce recruitment plans soon.
